Events & workshops

I’ve always loved to produce events.

Starting with arts festivals and gigs in Port Macquarie, graduating to film festivals and book clubs in bars in Melbourne, and then podcast live shows and creative audio experiences.

From 2018 - 2020 I turned this event energy towards the Audiocraft Podcast Festival, a multi-day audio wonderland celebrating Australian audio, and bringing world-renowned legends to Sydney to share their work (and for freezing winter swims). The festival regularly drew audiences of 300 - 500 people across the weekend, and in 2020 we moved it online with our biggest ever audience, with a full day of programming on Hopin.

I’ve also presented on podcasting at Sydney Writers’ Festival, Melbourne Writers Festival, Emerging Writers’ Festival, my hometown’s Litfest2444 and online for London Maker Weekend. In 2017 collaborator Stephanie Van Schilt and I recieved a grant from the Australia Council for the Arts grant to attend LA podcast conference Werk It as mentors.

Some events I’m most proud of are below.

Audiocraft in the RBG

We programmed a day of creative audio experiences in Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens, including a live show from Hey Aunty!, podcast performances from the future, field recording workshops and a dreamy outdoor guided listening from Everything is Alive’s Ian Chillag.

Fitzroy Diaries Live

Audiocraft hosted a live performance of ABC RN audio fiction podcast The Fitzroy Diaries, with narrator and writer Lorin Clarke performing along with actors Alexandra Hines and Joel Davey. It was in a community hall in Fitzroy North and I insisted we serve the punch from Episode 8’s street party which was a little over the top (but delicious).

All the Best Live at SWF

All the Best produced an evening of live storytelling at Sydney Writers’ Festival 2014, with stories from Maxine Beneba Clarke, Zora Sanders, Dan Nolan, Belinda Lopez and musician Caitlin Park.

I produced the event along with co-EP Heidi Pett, who I’ve run events with since we were teenagers in Port Macquarie.
